AN UNPARALLELED PROGRESS: The Brazilian Audiovisual Authors will finally collect author’s rights

From ADAL we want to express happiness in this unparalleled advance: after a long struggle for the recognition of their rights, the Brazilian authors met with the Minister of Culture – Mr. Sérgio Sá Leitão – who has communicated the early authorization of the management societies DBCA , GEDAR and INTERARTIS to begin with the collection of rights in the territory of Brazil and around the world.

We want to congratulate the Brazilian authors for their constant struggle in defense of their rights, equality and economic support that has been achieved through the long road they have traveled to obtain the early authorization of the management societies DBCA – Brazilian Directors of Cinema e do Audiovisual – GEDAR – Screenwriters Authors’ Rights Management and INTERARTIS – Collective Management of Artists Performers of Audiovisual of Brazil.

This is the result of the strength of the authors from around the world, centered in their management societies that claim and augur for their rights, a force headed by the Brazilian authors who never lowered their arms before the claim of what corresponds to them, the claim to put culture at the forefront of a country full of authors, a country with a huge audiovisual industry and authors who live from it. Once again, it is necessary to emphasize the importance of keeping the culture of a country afloat and claiming the work of the audiovisual author who lives from his work.

DBCA and GEDAR, among other management societies, are nucleated in this Regional Alliance ADAL – Alliance of Latin American Audiovisual Directors – which has as one of its main objectives the cooperation and help new Audiovisual Directors Collective Organizations within the Latin American region, being a fundamental actor in the path traveled by each of its member societies and their operation. It is worth highlighting the fundamental role played by the member societies of W&DW – Writers and Directors Worldwide – international societies from around the world that have committed and have collaborated through their esteemed support.

We are happy to know that today the defense of author’s rights has taken a step more than important. We greet all the Brazilian authors committed to this fight!
